Transcribing Qualitative Data Webinar

Drs. Charles Vanover, Mariaelena Bartesaghi, and Silvana di Gregorio discuss contemporary approaches to transcription. Mariaelena Bartesaghi discusses the theory and practice of transcription of spoken discourse in discourse studies, focusing on the problems of why we should transcribe features of talk, how much talk to transcribe, and the material difference these decisions make to our analyses. Silvana di Gregorio discusses new research designs for taking advantage of the time savings and responsiveness of automated transcription.
