What Works Clearinghouse (WWC) Systematic Literature Searches Using ERIC Webinar

Join the What Works Clearinghouse (WWC) and Education Resources Information Center (ERIC) for a webinar on the best-practice principles and procedures used in WWC systematic literature searches. This webinar is intended primarily for WWC review team members and review team leads who want to know more about how to conduct systematic literature searches using bibliographic databases, in particular the ERIC database. The webinar may also appeal to researchers who are interested in conducting systematic reviews in education and related behavioral sciences, as well as to any researchers who want more information about how to implement searches within ERIC.

The webinar will cover the following topics:

  • Understanding the principles and strategies of a systematic literature search
  • The role of databases in the process of performing a literature search
  • How to effectively use the ERIC database in a systematic literature search

Examining school-based Behavioral Interventions for Racial Inclusion and Equity: Are Interventions “Evidenced-based for All? Webinar

The What Works Clearinghouse (WWC), from the Institute of Education Sciences, reviews existing high-quality research on different educational programs and practices in order to help educators make evidence-based decisions. Dr. Scott Graves will discuss his examination on whether the WWC’s behavioral interventions, specifically those identified as “meeting standards” that are focused on positive behavioral outcomes, addressed racial bias or were modified for multiple cultures. Dr. Graves’ research interests broadly span understanding protective factors that lead to appropriate development in early childhood.

2022 EHE Research Forum

When: Wednesday, February 23, 2022 from 8 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Where: The Ohio Union 

The yearly EHE Research Forum highlights the research efforts of our faculty, postdocs, research scientists and graduate and undergraduate students.

Presentations will begin at 8 a.m. and continue through 11:30 a.m., followed by lunch and a keynote presentation at 11:45 a.m. by Ezemenari Obasi, Professor and Director of the HEALTH Research Institute at University of Houston.

NSF EHR Townhall – Data Science in Education

The National Science Foundation’s Directorate for Education and Human Resources (EHR) invites you to participate in a virtual town hall meeting to stimulate a national conversation on the topic of Data Science in Education.  Each day, there is more accessible data than there was the day before, and a professional skillset is emerging to meet the needs of a dynamically growing industry.  This town hall meeting will explore Data Science and its impact across all levels of education from K-12 through higher education, including community colleges, minority serving institutions, and graduate institutions.

With speakers and open discussions, we will explore:

  • Data Science research across disciplines and fields
  • Ethical practices and approaches to Data Science
  • Teaching and Learning Data Science
  • Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion in a ‘Data Science for All’ movement

The outcomes of this meeting will include a white paper that will capture the themes from these topics which can be used to inform future work in the field.

What Works Clearinghouse Webinar: Reviewing Studies for the WWC

Join us for a webinar to learn about processes for screening, reviewing, and reconciling What Works Clearinghouse (WWC) studies. The webinar will also cover best practices for entering accurate and complete review data. This webinar is primarily intended for WWC certified reviewers and prospective reviewers.

Topics will include the following:

  • The process for referring studies for WWC review
  • A live demonstration of the online study review guide (OSRG) processes for screening, review, reconciliation, and publishing studies
  • Key strategies for ensuring that reviews are complete and accurate.
