Join us for an information session to learn about patents as a type of Intellectual Property Protection, and their role in the research and innovation process. Basic definitions and examples will be shared with participants, together with a general description of the lifecycle of patents. FAQs about patents will also be part of the session.

About the Presenter:
Patricia Verdines is an Engineering Librarian since January 2024, and together with other two subject librarians, serves the Patent, Trademark and Resource Center (Welcome – Patent and Trademark Resource Center (PTRC) – Research Guides at Ohio State University) at Ohio State University Libraries. Before joining OSU Libraries, she served many years as a faculty member supervising undergraduate and graduate students conducting industry sponsored Capstone Projects at the College of Engineering in a private technical university in Mexico. She holds a BS in Information Systems Engineering from Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon, Mexico; a Master’s in Information Engineering from the University of Tokyo, Japan; and a PhD in Information Science from the University of Maryland College Park.
