Summary: In this 1.5 hour face-to-face session, experienced researchers from the College of Education and Human Ecology provided guidance on the use of secondary data sets in funded research and share their strategies for success. Presenters covered the following topics:
- Defining secondary data
- Reasons for using secondary data
- Available secondary sets
- Differences between public and restricted secondary data sets
- Funding opportunities using secondary data
- OSU process for getting approved to use restricted secondary data sets
This was the first of four workshops that focus on Getting Grants Using Secondary Data. This workshop was for all OSU faculty, postdoctoral researchers, staff and graduate students with examples from the College of Education and Human Ecology.
