If you are considering submitting to a foundation, in addition to contacting someone in the EHE ORIC office, contact Kristina Markel in the OSU Foundation Relations office. She can provide great insight into foundations, tell you whether the opportunity is a limited submission, and support you in your submissions including providing feedback.
Foundation Relations is a specialized central service team within Ohio State Advancement focused on increasing private foundation support to advance Ohio State’s educational and research mission. A partner and resource within Ohio State’s research enterprise, Foundation Relations complements the work of other central offices and grants teams engaged in grant seeking and grants administration. Resources include
- developing your proposal;
- finding funding opportunities;
- grants education and training resources; and
- managing your grant.
In addition to connecting with Foundation Relations, contact EHE ORIC grants managers, Niraj Gupta or Essence Vaughn, for help with creating budgets and determining whether the submission will be channeled through the Office of Sponsored Programs or the Foundation Relations.
Finding Foundation Funding Opportunities
You can search the Funding Opportunities for EHE Researchers curated collection which includes opportunities from federal, foundation and OSU sponsors that have been handpicked for faculty and researchers in EHE. The opportunities are browsable as well as searchable by Keyword as well as Sponsor Type, Program Type, and Topic. Choose “Non-federal” as Sponsor Type in the Advanced Search. Opportunities are added to the database as they are released by funders so check back often.
Can I Submit if the Sponsor Requires a 501(c)(3) Designation?
Yes you can but OSU Foundation Relations has the 501(c)(3) status, so you would need to apply through them. Work with Kristina Markel to determine how best to coordinate the submission with the EHE ORIC and OSU Foundation Relations offices.
