Co-Learning & Co-writing as Action Research: Community Wellbeing, Engaged Scholarship, and Creating Futures
This session focuses on co-learning and co-writing processes as action research. These collaborative processes center the wellbeing of communities, engagement of scholars supporting new generations of social activists, and the renewal and expansion of educational and career pathways. Dr. St. John provides concrete examples of co-learning and co-writing that engages students and professors across generations in action research partnerships with community organizations, schools, and corporations that solve emerging social and environmental challenges. He draws from his research designs in K-20 research, community projects, racial and class financial equity research in the US, international policy projects, and empowering social agency among youth in rising generations.
Making People Care: Elevator Speech Development Coaching Workshop (Zoom)
This virtual interactive workshop will guide you through the strategy, steps and storytelling in the development of your ideal elevator speech so that you can bring your research passion to life for any audience. After introduction and guidance from the facilitator, participants will have the opportunity to craft their own elevator speech and workshop it with fellow participants for feedback and refinement to make drafts stronger and give others ideas on how to recraft their own elevator speech storytelling.
NSF Experiential Learning for Emerging and Novel Technologies (ExLENT) Webinar
Through this new initiative, the Directorate for STEM Education, formerly the Directorate of Education and Human Resources, and the newly established Directorate for Technology, Innovation and Partnerships (TIP) seek to support experiential learning opportunities for individuals from diverse professional and educational backgrounds that will increase access to, and interest in, career pathways in emerging technology fields (e.g., advanced manufacturing, advanced wireless, artificial intelligence, biotechnology, quantum information science, semiconductors, and microelectronics). Join the University Libraries’ Copyright Services for a workshop on strategies and considerations for negotiating terms of your publishing agreement. We will discuss common phrases found in scholarly journal publishing agreements, the implications of those terms for future scholarship and research, and tactics for retaining the rights that are important to you. NIH invites you to explore the 2023 NIH Grants Conference agenda, offering 2-days of sessions designed to clarify the NIH grants process and policies, as well as provide the latest news and information. Twenty-five sessions offer attendees an array of options on various topics, and the opportunity to engage with presenters through Q&A and chat features. Once registered and logged into the conference site, you are free to explore the 2-day agenda, on-demand library of related resources, and create your personal schedule!
The opportunities to create a meaningful and unique experience during this conference, also include visits to the Exhibit Hall. While there, you’ll encounter NIH staff and an abundance of resources located at our NIH Institute, Center, and Special Program booths. Outside Activities and Conflicts (Online)
This two-hour case study based workshop covers the Outside Activities and Conflicts policy, which incorporates the Ohio Ethics Law and federal research regulations regarding conflicts of interest. This workshop is led by ethics experts from Academic Affairs, Medical Center Compliance, and University Compliance and Integrity.
