Open Access Article Publishing With No Cost to Ohio State Authors (Virtual Information Session)

More than $3.3 million in fees have been waived for Ohio State corresponding authors publishing Open Access articles under the agreements University Libraries has with Taylor & Francis, Wiley, Cambridge University Press, PLOS, the Royal Society, The Company of Biologists, De Gruyter, the Institute of Physics (IOP), and the Microbiology Society. Join us to learn more about our agreements with publishers that provide no cost Open Access article publishing for Ohio State corresponding authors. We will provide an overview of each agreement, the benefits of each for you as an author, and answer questions you may have about Open Access publishing.

Publishing: Understanding and Negotiating the Terms of Your Agreement (Virtual Workshop)

Join the University Libraries’ Copyright Services for a workshop on strategies and considerations for negotiating terms of your publishing agreement. We will discuss common phrases found in scholarly journal publishing agreements, the implications of those terms for future scholarship and research, and tactics for retaining the rights that are important to you. In this workshop, participants will have the opportunity to review a sample agreement to identify potential areas for negotiation.

Gaining Visibility for your Research through The Conversation (Virtual Event)

Over the last eight years, nearly 200 Ohio State researchers have written about their research for The Conversation – and their articles have been read nearly 14 million times and been republished in outlets like The Washington Post, Popular Science and CNN. All faculty members, PhD students and postdoc interested in reaching The Conversation’s international audience, are invited to an online session specifically for the Ohio State community on Nov. 17.

TOME@Ohio State Publishing Grants for Open Access Digital Monographs in the Humanities and Humanistic Social Sciences (Virtual Event)

Are you a faculty member publishing a monograph with a university press? The Ohio State University Libraries is funding the publication of Open Access digital editions of university press monographs by Ohio State faculty to advance the wide dissemination of humanities and humanistic social science scholarship. Awards of up to $15,000 each will be provided as subventions to participating university presses. The next deadline for expressions of interest is October 14, 2022. To learn more about our TOME@Ohio State initiative and how to submit an expression of interest, please attend this information session.

Open Access Monograph Publishing: TOME@Ohio State Authors Panel

Join University Libraries and an (in-person) panel of Ohio State faculty members whose scholarly monographs have been funded as part of our TOME@Ohio State initiative to learn about their work and what Open Access has meant for their monographs and scholarship. TOME@Ohio State provides subvention funds to university presses for the publication and wide distribution of Open Access editions of humanities and humanistic social sciences monographs. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about TOME and have a conversation with our panelists about their TOME funded work.  This event is for Ohio State Faculty, Grad Students, and Postdocs.
